Audit: Corrections' OT costs double in 3 years - Springfield, IL - The State Journal-Register

Please go to this article, either click title above or link below. BUT please read the comments from readers. There is so much truth there that you will never hear from any politician or Director of Corrections.

The waste in corrections is not on Front-Line jobs.

And if history repeats itself, as in drug treatment and medical units, AFSCME will allow the backdoor privatization to occur by allowing the layed off employees to be replaced at sometime by 'vendor' employees. This will (has always) cost the tax payer more than straight State Employees.

The 'Vendor' employee is payed less, has fewer benefits and expected to do the same job. However, the 'Vendor' administration and/or owners get some very good fee's since they are expected to support the political organization that gave them the contract. Yes, they do change as the wind changes direction.

AFSCME will, however, eventually be successful in having the 'Vendor' employee become Union Members, and allow him/her to pay their dues. Oh, they will remain the same with the lower pay and benefits. But they will be allowed to make their political contribution. (As I posted before, I do not understand how AFSCME and SEIU are allowed to be the biggest contributors to the employers of those they represent. They should be A-Political and Non-Socialist)
